I Expect Tour Packages to Increase by 20–25% – Horizon Travel

Geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and rising aviation fuel prices are making travelers more cautious about buying summer airline tickets in advance. According to tour operators, uncertainty and perceived security risks have caused customers to hesitate, especially as airfare prices continue to climb and some airlines optimize flight schedules.

Teimuraz Ergeshidze, founder and director of Horizon Travel, told BMGTV’s Women’s Narrative that higher fuel costs are already affecting ticket prices. “A 10% increase in aviation fuel couldn’t go unnoticed — tickets are more expensive. Prices are up by about 20–30%,” he said. Ergeshidze expects tour packages to rise as well, estimating a 20–25% increase this season.

Despite the price jump, he says sales have not sharply declined. Instead, the market is shifting toward more stable destinations. Ergeshidze predicts that Europe, Antalya, and cruise packages will dominate demand this summer, noting that Turkey is viewed as one of the safest regional destinations, boosting interest in Antalya.

However, some markets are already affected. Demand for Sharm El-Sheikh—usually strong in spring—has dropped, and interest in Qatar, once a rapidly growing destination, has also slowed. Ergeshidze says part of the lost demand is being offset by alternative carriers like Air Astana, which has absorbed traffic on some Asian routes.
