“I have always served my country, and our opponents should refrain from using my name or anyone else’s for their political interests,” said Davit Zalkaliani, Georgian Ambassador to the USA, in response to questions about his alleged resignation.
Zalkaliani noted that similar unfounded claims have often been made about him, calling such tactics frivolous.
“It is curious that my name has garnered such attention. This is not new to me; throughout my years in diplomacy and politics, I have faced numerous manipulations and lies. I won’t dignify these claims with a serious response. I have always been dedicated to my country, and no political faction should exploit my name or that of anyone else for their agenda,” he stated.
Recent media reports suggested that Zalkaliani had resigned, but the Ministry of Foreign Affairs later confirmed that these claims were false, and he remains in his position.
