Immunologist and member of the Immunization Council Bidzina Kulumbegov supports the vaccination of children. He said it is important to start vaccinating children to defeat the pandemic.
"It is very important, to start vaccinating children, especially if schools resume studies. There is indeed no high lethality in children and the virus is mild and moderate in 99.9% of children, but often after socializing in school and kindergarten, they generate the virus and bring the infection home. Now in the summer, the opposite happens. Adults are the main source of infection in children, so we now call on adults to get vaccinated. As a member of the Immunization Council, I will support the start of vaccination of children from autumn," Kulumbegov said.
Currently, only the Pfizer vaccine has been allowed in Georgia for persons above 16 years.
