Representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on October 20 visited former Nagorno-Karabakh presidents Arkady Ghukasyan, Bako Sahakyan, Arayik Harutyunyan, former State Minister Ruben Vardanyan, former Foreign Minister David Babayan, as well as former Defense Army Commander and Deputy Commander Levon Mnatsakanyan and David Manukyan, held in Azerbaijani prison, said Zara Amatuni, head of communications programs at the ICRC Armenian Delegation.
"The meetings were held according to our procedures, i.e. separate conversations were held, and everyone was given an opportunity to contact their relatives," Amatuni told Armenia's Public Television.
In general, according to Amatuni, visits to other Armenians, whose captivity in Azerbaijan was confirmed by the Azerbaijani authorities, were also held during October.
"I mean individuals who were detained in connection with the 2020-2021 hostilities and whom we have been visiting continuously over the past years," she said.
Nagorno-Karabakh officials were detained and arrested when trying to leave Nagorno-Karabakh for Armenia in late September, ARKA reports.
