Electricity tariff increased from 2021. The Government of Georgia decided to subsidize 50% of the grown electricity tariff for some entrepreneurs. The benefits will apply to the local bread producers. Companies had to register on a special website until January 27 to receive the promised subsidy, but some bakers find out about it later.

Quite large bakeries, like "Ipkli Digomi" and "Nagdi Puri" are left without the electricity tariff subsidy.

“Nagdi Puri”, the largest enterprise in Adjara, produces 5 t of products and employs 100 people.

Giorgi Dolidze, director of "Nagri Puri", says that if the company does not receive subsidy on electricity tariff, bread price will increase. He notes that except for flour and electricity, practically everything has become more expensive, and during the pandemic period they have to transport employees, which is an additional cost. Entrepreneurs ask the Ministry of Economy to extend registration period.

“We thought that the company would be subsidized automatically. We learned later, that registration was required, which expired on January 27.

I wonder if the government allows us to get a subsidy, why should we be punished for technical issues? After all, the main thing here is to have social bread and not make it more expensive.

There was not enough information that registration was expiring on January 27. We did not know it. If the issue is not solved, it will escalate into another problem, the price of bread will rise, or the factory will stop, because if the factory is not profitable, it will not exist," said the director of the bakery.
