Georgian restaurant "Chveni" plans to expand abroad. Chef Guram Bagdoshvili told BM.GE that he is interested in the UK and Spanish markets.
On November 30, 2024, the chef opened the first branch of the Georgian restaurant "Chveni" in the Portuguese capital, Lisbon, which has been operating successfully until now and employs up to 10 people. The tourist facility is located in old Lisbon, in a tourist area.
According to Bagdoshvili, Georgian gastronomy is becoming increasingly popular worldwide. This is credited to the many emigrants who left to live abroad many years ago and opened small cafes or restaurants. Consequently, the chef is interested in developing his restaurant line in the international market.
"As I see it, Georgian gastronomy is becoming very in-demand worldwide, thanks to those people who went abroad 10 or 20 years ago and opened small cafes. People who are trying to introduce Georgian culture there.
I am interested in UK and Spain markets, however, of course, all this requires significant financial resources. At this stage, it's only a plan at this stage. When you don't know someone, you can't take them as a partner, but it's not impossible either. I have a few people who are interested in this business", - Bagdoshvili said.
