Giorgi Bakradze, the former adviser to the presidents of the National Bank of Georgia declares, that it is important to restore the IMF program in the country.
As he told BMG, the existence of the IMF program is a kind of positive signal for investors.
"At this stage, Georgia does not need loans from the International Monetary Fund, therefore, it may seem that the program of the IMF is not needed either, but it plays an important role as an independent evaluator and monitor of the country's economy, acts as an advisor to the government and the central bank, also provides technical assistance.
As a former employee of the National Bank, I especially want to emphasize the experience and knowledge gained over the years.
It is important that the existence of the IMF program is a kind of positive signal for investors. Cooperation helps us to ensure that changes in the legal framework are monitored to be in line with global standards of financial transparency. The existence of the IMF program, in some way, makes us a part of the civilized world", says Giorgi Bakradze.
