IMF Mission had Meetings with NBG and Members of Georgian Government

“The IMF mission gave the positive evaluation of our economic growth and the monetary as well as the fiscal policies,” – Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development commented following the meeting with the representatives of the International Monetary Fund Mission. The IMF mission headed by Mercedes Vera-Martin was in Georgia for a week visit.

The mission of the International Monetary Fund held a summarizing meeting at the Government Administration where the outcomes of the visit were discussed together with the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development George Kobulia, Minister of Finance Ivane Machavariani and the President of the National Bank Koba Gvenetadze. During the visit, the representatives of the Monetary Fund were introduced to the economic trends of Georgia. In addition, the mission was informed about the ongoing as well as scheduled reforms in Georgia.

According to George Kobulia, during the meeting the positive dynamics of the export development in Georgia, especially in the field of tourism. “The IMF gave positive assessment of our reforms, namely, the pension reform. In addition, other reforms were also noted - focusing on the development of capital market and insolvency reforms,” – the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development said.
