The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has upgraded Georgia’s economic growth forecast to 6%, with the official announcement expected soon, Deputy Finance Minister Giorgi Kakouridze told Parliament’s Finance and Budget Committee. Until now, the IMF projected 5.3% growth for Georgia.

Kakouridze noted that all major international financial institutions have recently improved their outlooks for Georgia’s economy. He added that the government expects even stronger performance, estimating growth at around 6.3–6.5% in its baseline scenario, and potentially above 7% in a more optimistic outlook.

The Finance Ministry is currently finalizing updated macroeconomic scenarios, which will form the foundation for the 2027 budget and subsequent years. These projections will be presented to Parliament at the end of May.

Kakouridze emphasized that the government will submit multiple scenarios, as external factors continue to influence economic forecasts. Recently, Fitch raised Georgia’s 2026 growth outlook to 6.5%, and on May 7 the National Bank of Georgia also upgraded its forecast to 6.5%.
