The European Union is preparing to present Armenia with a concrete action plan for visa liberalization. In an interview with Public Television, Armenia's Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Armen Ghazaryan, announced that two assessment missions comprising representatives from the European Commission and EU member states will visit Armenia in the first half of 2025.
Experts will evaluate four key areas: document security, combating illegal migration, public order and security, as well as external relations and fundamental rights. Based on the findings of these missions, the European Commission is expected to propose an action plan by mid-2025, which will then proceed to practical implementation.
The dialogue on visa liberalization between the EU and Armenia was officially launched in September 2024 as part of the development of a new comprehensive framework, the "New Partnership Agenda." This program marks a significant step forward in strengthening relations between Armenia and the European Union.
