According to Amiran Gamkrelidze, head of the National Center for Disease Control, point restrictions may be imposed in the country if small epidemic bursts become more frequent.
He said so in a press conference on Facebook Live, adding that there are 5 small clusters at this stage.
"The epidemic has worsened slightly, it was expected. The situation is noteworthy, so it is important to urge citizens to follow the recommendations we often talk about - masks, distance, and avoidance of large gathering places, it is also important to intensify vaccination.
"Some point restrictions may be imposed by the decision of the Coordinating Council only if small clusters are crowded and epidemic bursts become more frequent. They will inevitably increase if we do not follow the recommendations," - said Amiran Gamkrelidze.
For his part, Paata Imnadze, deputy head of the NCDC, said that the inter-agency council would discuss where the restrictions would be imposed.
"Everything will depend on the situation in this or that particular settlement," Imnadze said.
