Russian investments in Georgia doubled in the third quarter of this year. According to the data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat), USD 41.8 million accounted for Russia in 3Q2022, which was 122% more compared to the same period of the previous year.
As of the information requested by BMG from Geostat, most investments from Russia were made in the real estate sector - namely, USD 29 million. This sector includes both real estate operations, as well as leasing and providing services to customers.
In addition to real estate, as Geostat notes, Russian investments were made in the financial sector, which includes direct foreign investments in banking, microfinance and insurance organizations. The construction sector is also in the top three - with an investment of approximately USD 3.5 million.
