In January-May 2024, the volume of industrial production in Armenia reached 1.18 trillion drams (over $3 billion), which is 22% more compared to the same period in 2023, according to the Statistical Committee.
In May, the production volume amounted to 229 billion drams (about $588 million), which is 6.9% higher than in May last year but 0.2% lower than in April 2024. The mining industry and open-pit mining produced 179 billion drams (over $460 million) during this period, which is 8.8% less than last year.
The manufacturing industry showed a growth of 33.7%, reaching a volume of 842 billion drams (over $2.1 billion). Supplies of electricity, gas, steam, and purified air increased by 13.3%, reaching 149 billion drams (about $383 million).
The water supply, sewerage, and waste management sector grew by 5.7%, totaling 12 billion drams (about $30.8 million). The manufacturing industry held the largest share in the structure of industrial production – 71.2%.
