Inex Group, a transport and logistics company operating in Georgia, has doubled its tariff for declaration services, raising the fee from GEL 5 to GEL 10. The company informed its clients of the change via official notification on June 19.
Speaking to bm.ge, Mikheil Babunashvili, Head of Business Development at Inex Group, explained that the adjustment reflects rising operational costs and is intended to enhance the quality and speed of customs services.
“We increased the declaration fee to GEL 10 because, as you know, costs are rising for absolutely everything. We’ve kept the GEL 5 fee for a long time, and honestly, I don’t recall any other company offering declaration services for that low a price,” said Babunashvili.
The declaration service offered by Inex Group covers the customs clearance of cargo, which is required by law when the logistics provider acts as an intermediary between the client and customs authorities. According to Babunashvili, the process includes preparing customs invoices, handling documentation, and ensuring that all cargo is cleared in compliance with Georgian legislation.
“Our employees manage the entire customs procedure. Even after the fee increase, our tariff remains one of the most affordable in the market,” he noted.
Inex Group assures its clients that the new tariff will have a “virtually insignificant” financial impact, especially when compared to the operational improvements the company plans to implement with the additional revenue.
“No other company has as many declarants as we do. This allows us to offer faster and more efficient customs processing for our customers,” Babunashvili stated.
He also clarified that the new tariff does not apply to customers whose cargo is valued at less than GEL 300, as such shipments do not require customs clearance under current regulations.
