In October 2022 the Consumer Price Index increased by 0.5 percent compared to the previous month, while the annual inflation rate amounted to 10.6%, - according to the National Statistics Office Of Georgia (Geostat).
The annual inflation rate was mainly influenced by price changes for the following groups:
Food and non-alcoholic beverages: the prices in the group increased by 15.8%, contributing 5.22 percentage points to the overall annual inflation rate. Within the group the prices increased for the following subgroups: bread and cereals (26.1%), milk, cheese and eggs (22.1%),
mineral waters, soft drinks, fruit and vegetable juices (21.9%), coffee, tea and cocoa (20.6%), oils and fats (18.3%), sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and confectionery (16.9%), fish (12.3 %), meat (9.0%), vegetables (3.5%), fruit and grapes (3.4%);
Transport: the prices in the group increased by 11.6%, contributing 1.38 percentage points to the overall index. Within the group the prices increased for transport services (13.8%) and operation of personal transport equipment (13.2%);
Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels: the prices for the group posted a 13.5% increase, which contributed 1.31 percentage points to the annual inflation rate. The prices were higher for the following subgroups: actual rentals for housing (27%), maintenance and repair of the dwelling (13.1%), electricity, gas and other fuels (5.7%).
