Investigation Service exposed the fact of illegal transportation of particularly large amount of gold jewelry products through the customs border of Georgia
As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities, representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, in coordination with the Customs Department of the Revenue Service, exposed a fact of transportation of particularly large amount of goods through the customs border of Georgia, in violation of the customs regulations.
Investigation determined that a foreign citizen, by means of a passenger vehicle, transported 179 grams of gold jewelry products decorated with precious stones, through the customs border of Georgia, across the customs checkpoint “Sarpi”, hidden from the customs control.
The total value of the goods, seized as a result of the investigative activities, exceeds GEL 56 000.
Investigation is underway under the second part of Article 214 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which as a type and extent of sentence, envisages imprisonment from five to seven years.
