Armenia and Iran are preparing to sign a memorandum of understanding in urban development, opening new opportunities for Iranian companies in the Armenian market and strengthening bilateral cooperation in this area.

During a meeting between the Chairman of the Urban Development Committee of Armenia, Yegiazary Vardanyan, and the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mehdi Sobhani, on July 18, key aspects of cooperation in urban development between the two countries were discussed, according to the press service of the Urban Development Committee of Armenia.

The parties outlined the main directions of interaction within the framework of the forthcoming memorandum of understanding between the Urban Development Committee of Armenia and the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development of Iran. Special attention was paid to the participation of Iranian companies in large-scale construction projects being implemented in Armenia according to the government program.

Yegiazary Vardanyan noted that Armenia is ready to assist Iranian partners by providing information on urban development standards, upcoming tenders, and pilot programs. He also emphasized that the simplified procedure for granting permits to foreign organizations to operate in Armenia's urban development sector will be a significant incentive for cooperation.

In turn, Ambassador Mehdi Sobhani expressed readiness to guarantee the entry of leading Iranian companies into the Armenian market, considering sectoral cooperation with Armenia in the long term and attaching importance to maintaining a good reputation.

The parties also agreed to exchange information on industry exhibitions organized in both countries and to involve the private sector in cooperation.

The document is expected to be finalized and the signing of the memorandum organized in the near future.
