The State Services Development Agency of the Ministry of Justice has begun issuing the latest generation of electronic identity cards (IDs) featuring an updated design.
According to the Agency, the security of these new ID cards has been significantly enhanced through the incorporation of modern protective features, fully aligning with the latest international standards. The design prominently showcases national symbols, reflecting the country’s heritage.
“It is worth noting that the cost of the identification document remains unchanged, and holders of active IDs are not required to replace them with new ones.
The revised electronic ID card now features the holder’s fingerprints and a QR code, which, when scanned, reveals additional information such as the document number and status, the owner’s registered address, and the status of a student or a person with disabilities upon request.
Interested individuals can apply for a new ID card at the territorial offices of the State Services Development Agency, branches of the House of Justice, mobile justice units, or remotely via the Agency’s website, sda.gov.ge,” the State Services Development Agency announced in a statement.
