It is both deeply disturbing and saddening to see the aspirations and dreams of entire [Georgian] society being held hostage to grievances of one individual: Bidzina Ivanishvili, - said John Bass, Acting US Under Secretary for Political Affairs, former US Ambassador to Georgia.
According to him, Georgia will become a member of NATO “when allies assess that it’s prepared to fulfill the obligations that come with membership, including upholding core principles of democratic governance”.
“And unfortunately, since I was ambassador in Georgia, we have not seen Georgia progress to meeting those objectives. It’s been very disturbing to see evolution in recent years, and in particularly recent month of the Georgian Dream government,", said John Bass, whose statement was shared on X by journalist Alex Raufoglu.
