"It is more difficult to find staff in Moldova than in Georgia," Giorgi Shagidze, CEO of the MAIB Bank of Moldova declared.
“People leave the country very easily because of the Romanian factor. As soon as the students graduate from the university, they go to Romania, because they can work in any European country with a Romanian passport. That is why it is more difficult to find staff in Moldova than in Georgia", Giorgi Shagidze said.
According to him, to solve this problem, the MAIB began to use the potential of Ukraine and the Belarusian market.
A significant share of MAIB is related to agriculture. According to Shagidze, the main part of the Moldovan economy is built on agriculture in general, which is facilitated by the country's clos location to Europe.
"Moldova's main exporters are European countries. This country produces products like Turkey and it is very difficult to compete with them, but due to its close location to Europe, Moldova even outstrips in some areas," - said Giorgi Shagidze.
MAIB holds 35% of the market share in Moldova, although it is still not the only systemic bank. It has always been better represented in the corporate segment.
MAIB currently has more than 3,500 shareholders, including the EBRD, investment funds: Horizon Capital and Invalda INVL.
