Andro Gotsiridze, founder of Gotsiridze's Winery, expects 2026 to be a challenging year for viticulture and winemaking. He told BM.GE that high temperatures combined with heavy rainfall have increased the risk of fungal diseases in vineyards.
He says the situation is particularly difficult for organic vineyards, where systemic treatments are not used, potentially making crops more vulnerable to disease.
According to Gotsiridze, unfavorable weather is unlikely to significantly reduce the harvest volume but may affect grape quality. He expects a normal harvest overall, with a clearer picture emerging from mid-September.
