Andro Gotsiridze, co-founder of "Gotsiridze Winery" declares that it is necessary to distance Georgian wine from Russia and to focus on the Western markets for the development of the wine and establishing the appropriate status.
According to him, Russia is an extremely unstable and politicized market. In addition, it is not focused on the quality.
"The instability and politicization of the Russian market is so dangerous that not only a small entrepreneur, but even a large factory, which invests heavily to export to Russia, may one day end up at a loss after the Russian market is closed. However, at the same time, the Western markets have demands.
At this stage, we have a small production and produce about 3000-5000 bottles per year. Due to the fact that we have organic production, we do not grow the crop artificially, so as not to lose its quality. The produced products are sold in the local market, in particular in specialized wine shops and bars, and their value ranges from GEL 35 to GEL 45," says Gotsiridze.
Bio Winery has been operating on the market under the brand "Gotsiridze Winery" for two years and produces 4 types of wine: Rkatsiteli, Saperavi, Pink Saperavi and also a French variety of wine, Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine industry has invested about GEL 80,000 for setting up the enterprise.
