European Parliamentarian Rasa Juknevičienė said at the panel held within the framework of the two-day conference "Transitional Year" in Tbilisi, that if the situation in the country deteriorates further, it is possible to reconsider the issue of visa-free travel to Georgia.
"I don't know if we will be able to refrain from holding a debate, for example, on the issue of visa-free travel if things get worse here. It will be difficult, but I personally started thinking about it," said the MEP.
According to her, Georgia was an advanced country in terms of reforms and other issues, and it is really surprising that now in this region, Armenia is ahead of Georgia.
"This is true, according to our external assessment of the situation in the South Caucasus," said the European parliamentarian.
According to her, granting the candidate status to Georgia was not a merit-based decision on the part of the European Union, but rather to encourage the Georgian people.
"Forgive me Georgians, but I have to say this: Bidzina Ivanishvili and joining the European Union are incompatible. Without the debedinization of this country, I don't see any possibility for this country to be with us, although I am fascinated, I like what the Georgian people think about joining the European Union. Granting candidate status to Georgia was not a merit-based decision by the EU. It was more to encourage the Georgian people not to give up. To say that we are together", said the MEP.
