The government of Japan has given medical equipment worth $2.8 million in order to contribute to Georgia’s medium and long term socio-economic development, including enhancement of the medical system as well as help the country to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, announces the Embassy of Japan in Georgia.
For this reason ambassador of Japan to Georgia Uehara Tadaharu and Georgian Minister of Finance Ivane Matchavariani signed an exchange of notes between Japan and Georgia.
“The government of Japan sincerely hopes that this project will contribute to the further enhancement of the health and welfare system and many more Georgian people will be able to lead healthier lives", reads the press-release published by the embassy.
Japan has been offering support to Georgia for over two decades. Japan contributed to building the East-West highway of Georgia, assisted in projects related to environmental improvement, including projects for the introduction of clean energy by solar electricity generation system at Tbilisi International Airport and Ilia State University ($453 million).
Furthermore, the government of Japan has implemented 180 projects in the scheme of grassroots and human security grant projects (no less than $18 million) over the past 20 years as well.
