With 40 days to go until President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect, Kamala Harris take office, the politicians have been jointly named Time magazine’s Person Of The Year, symbolically beating out President Donald Trump for a second time this year.

Time announced the pick on Friday, along with an extensive profile on the political pair’s rise to office.

Biden and Harris beat out Trump, who claimed the title shortly after his win in 2016, as well as Dr. Anthony Fauci and healthcare workers—who were instead named Time’s Guardians Of The Year, and the movement for racial justice.

“If Donald Trump was a force for disruption and division over the past four years, Biden and Harris show where the nation is heading: a blend of ethnicities, lived experiences and worldviews that must find a way forward together if the American experiment is to survive,” the magazine wrote.

Zoom founder Eric Yuan was aptly named Businessperson Of The Year, as the video communications company has come to define the way millions have connected with each other during the pandemic.

In a year that has seen stark political division, a reckoning over racism, and an epidemic that has left millions of Americans in dire need, Time also named local figures, business owners, and leaders providing shelter and food to their local community its heroes of the year, as well as the firefighters who tackled the unprecedented Australia bush fires.
