Fruit processing company Jolie has postponed plans to launch in Georgia this year due to a shortage of raw materials caused by unfavorable weather, founder Guram Sukhashvili told Business Morning.
The company, which produces jams and compotes in Igoeti, currently exports about 60,000 units quarterly to the U.S. and says export demand left no capacity for local sales.
“We also wanted to capture a niche in Georgia, but due to the shortage of raw materials, we were unable to meet both export requirements and local demand,” Sukhashvili explained.
Looking ahead, Jolie plans to expand into Europe, where interest is growing, particularly from Germany and Italy. Negotiations on exports to these countries have been ongoing for the past six months.
Jolie sources fruit mainly from Shida Kartli border villages, supporting farmers who comply with FDA standards. Beyond the U.S., the company is also in talks to expand into Germany and Italy.
