Kazakhstan is 85% independent on the production of main types of food, but the country is still dependent on import of poultry meat, sausages, cheeses, apples, sugar and fish depends on imports, said Erbol Karashukeev, Minister of Agriculture.
"As for the main types of food products, the domestic market is provided with domestic production to about 85%, such goods as poultry meat, sausages, cheeses and cottage cheese, apples, sugar and fish still depend on imports," he said, KAZTAG reports.
Production of cheese and cottage cheese increased by 18.6%, to 45 thousand tons, sausages - by 9.5%, to 68 thousand tons, apples - by 7% to 282 thousand tons, poultry meat - by 27%, up to 282 thousand tons, sugar - by 28.9%, up to 335 thousand tons and fish - by 10.1%, up to 71 thousand tons in 2021, compared to the same period in 2020.
