Khundadze: “Sometimes Parliament Decisions Contribute to Rising Prices”

დიმიტრი ხუნდაძე

Dimitri Khundadze, chair of the parliamentary political group “People’s Power,” said in a plenary session that Georgia faces more challenges than can be addressed within the two years remaining before the next elections. He spoke about socio-economic pressures, regional problems, and the need for more effective engagement with citizens.

Khundadze emphasized that voters are not just statistical data but the main force shaping the country’s future. He said public opinion ultimately determines political outcomes, referring to elections in Hungary as an example of voters clearly expressing their will.

He argued that communication with citizens and concrete actions are more important than pre-election promises. At the same time, he warned that some parliamentary decisions may unintentionally contribute to rising prices, citing restrictions on older vehicles, which he said increased car prices, and delayed regulations such as plastic bans, which could have affected consumer costs.

The MP also highlighted rising electricity and fuel prices and listed unresolved infrastructure and social issues in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region, including unfinished water supply projects in Sioni, electricity shortages in some villages, and delayed road works in Mtskheta. He said he had raised these concerns with the Infrastructure Minister, who promised to visit the region, and stressed that government policy should focus on citizens’ everyday needs rather than only pre-election periods.
