The 2023 Best FIFA Football Awards edition took place in London. The 8th edition of the celebrated awards ceremony crowned the best players and coaches. The period from December 19, 2022 to August 20, 2023 was taken into consideration during the voting procedure. Media, fans, coaches and players of national teams were involved in the procedure and had voting rights. The "Vote Weight" of each of them was estimated at 25%.
For the first time in the history of independent Georgia, Georgian national team and Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was included among the best players of the world and took the tenth position in the survey.
Georgia national team captain Guram Kashia placed Kvaratskhelia on the third position, while coach Willy Sagnol and media representative Zurab Potskhveria awarded Khvicha first place.
It should be noted that according to FIFA, Lionel Messi became the best player of the year for the third time in his career, beating Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe. Both Messi and Haaland got 48-48 points, however Argentinian got advantage of more first-choice nominations in votes as per FIFA’s rules. As for Mbappe, he took the third place with 35 points.
