Tbilisi will introduce an electronic registration system in all kindergartens starting January 15, 2026, Mayor Kakha Kaladze announced. The system, piloted in 20 kindergartens since September, will require both employees and children to register their cards upon arrival.
Kaladze explained that New Year holidays will last from December 30 to January 15, after which the new system will be launched citywide. Card readers and video surveillance have already been installed, and staff have been trained. Parents are being informed to ensure a smooth transition.
Each parent will receive up to eight cards, and they may also generate a QR code through a special portal. The system is designed to accurately track attendance and accommodate children with special educational needs.
According to Kaladze, digital registration will save time and resources by providing precise data on both staff and student attendance. Geostat reports that in the 2025–2026 academic year, Tbilisi will have 190 kindergartens, serving around 49,000 children and employing over 6,500 educators.
