The Prime Minister once again criticized the policy of the previous United States administration, stating that "political and diplomatic pressure" was being exerted on the country by its strategic partner.
According to him, to better comprehend the historical reality of King Erekle II, it is important to observe how partner states act toward Georgia today.
"To better understand the reality of King Erekle II's era, we should remind today's critics and supporters of one important thing—specifically, how states act toward Georgia even when they refer to themselves as our strategic partners or friends. A clear example of this is the United States."
He claimed that the previous US administration "often acted completely unfairly and with extreme harshness" regarding Georgia, employing political pressure mechanisms.
"Their attitude became especially evident precisely regarding issues related to Georgia's sovereignty, legislation, transparency, and societal values. When the Georgian government attempted to defend its position and make independent decisions on certain matters, we received various forms of political and diplomatic pressure in response."
Today, on August 18, Kobakhidze held a briefing regarding Georgia's historic choice and repeatedly described King Erekle II's decision as wise.
