The founder of the agro-lodge Komli, located in the village of Tsitelmta in Guria, says that despite various challenges in 2025, the property did not experience a shortage of tourists. Speaking on BMGTV’s “Women’s Narrative,” Lika Megreladze highlighted the lodge’s appeal through tea tours and traditionally designed Gurian cottages, which transform rural life into a premium tourist experience.
“Problems existed everywhere, but we certainly did not lack visitors. Practically every continent was represented among our guests. They are particularly interested in family environments, village life, local stories, and the authenticity we offer,” Megreladze explained.
Most visitors came from various European countries, but the United States showed increased activity last year. In addition, the number of Georgian tourists also grew. The lodge emphasizes the nearly 200-year history of Gurian tea cultivation, engaging visitors in the full journey from bush to cup.
Since 2018, Komli has developed this unique tourist product, and Megreladze notes that interest continues to grow annually among both international and domestic visitors. “When we started, few knew the rich history of tea here. Today, tea tourism has become one of Guria’s defining experiences, attracting guests from almost every corner of the world,” she said.
