A 61-year-old man was arrested at Kutaisi International Airport for attempting to bring 420 pills of illegal narcotic substances into Georgia. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the detainee is identified as N.D., born in 1964.
The operation was carried out jointly by the Central Criminal Police Department and the Customs Department of the Revenue Service. Law enforcement officers discovered the illegal substances during an inspection of the suspect’s hand luggage.
Police seized 420 pills of narcotic drugs as evidence. The investigation will determine the origin and intended use of the substances.
The case is being investigated under Articles 260 (illegal purchase and possession of narcotics) and 262 (illegal import of narcotics) of Georgia’s Criminal Code. The charges carry a penalty of up to 9 years of imprisonment.
