Commencement of construction of Samgori South Dome Underground Gas Storage will be delayed until January 2019.
As Teimuraz Gochitashvili, head of Strategic Planning and Projects Department of the Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation told BM.ge, contract with the German Reconstruction and Development Bank on allocation of 150 mln USD will presumably be signed in September. As to the loan of the European Investment Bank (EIB), a 100 mln USD credit agreement will be signed with this institution before the end of the year.
“The process of concluding agreements with banks will be completed this year and construction of gas storage facility will start in January 2019. This will be the second stage of the project, as drilling works were completed in 2017,” – stated Temur Gochitashvili.
It is notable that the date of commencement of gas storage facility construction has changed several times. According to the recent information, the works were planned for the current year. The gas storage facility wil be capable of storing up to 300 mln m3 of natural gas.
