The President of Georgia states that the Law on Transparency of Foreign Influence is to be abolished and should not be sent to Venice Commission.

The President addressed Georgian citizens from the US where she canceled all the meetings previously scheduled with the UN.

"Venice Commission knows well what type of Law this is. I said I would veto the law and I will do that. All I really care about is Georgia's future and its constitution. Everything that goes against Constitution draws us back on the path of eurointegration. Everyone who voted for this law today, breached the constitution and separates us from the EU" - President Salome Zourabichvili stated.

The police used water cannons and teargas in a crackdown on a protest against the so-called Foreign Agents bills at the Georgian Parliament building. Participants in the rally are protesting the People’s Power-tabled so-called Foreign Agents bills. The Parliament approved the proposed legislation On the Transparency of Foreign Influence in its first reading earlier today.
