At its first reading, the Legal Affairs Committee approved amendments to the Law on Remuneration in Public Institutions. The draft legislation was presented by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Khatuna Totladze.
Given the specific functions and organizational structure of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the amendments aim to regulate remuneration for interns working in the Ministry’s structural units abroad.
Under the proposed changes, an exception will be added to the provision of the Law that sets maximum remuneration for interns in public service. This exception will clarify that the restriction does not apply to interns employed in the Ministry’s foreign missions.
Additionally, the Law will be supplemented with a new article stipulating that interns serving in Georgia’s diplomatic missions and consular posts abroad shall receive remuneration within limits defined by a legal act of the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The draft law was prepared by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and submitted by the Government of Georgia.
