"Our request is that the companies with relevant development plan, financial and intellectual resource, must be given the opportunity to move to a new GMP / GDP standard, - The President of the Georgian Pharmacists Association Levan Gogiberidze told TV-program "Business Morning".

According to Gogiberidze, introduction of GMP / GDP standard is planned to ensure the quality of produced, as well as imported medicines in the country. It will expand export markets and increase the inflow of foreign currency into the country.

"A number of businesses have already purchased both land and production lines. However, the standard that is required for our business is not important for importing companies. Therefore, business refrains from doing so because it puts them in a non-competitive environment. Until this is not changed, companies will not be able to invest in such a business. By 2022, 2-3 companies will be able to meet this demand. It can be boldly said that the local market will be left without Georgian manufacturers and there will be a shortage of available medicines," - said the President of the Pharmacists Association.
