The flag carrier of Germany, Lufthansa has introduced a campaign as part of an effort to recruit a total of 20,000 employees in Europe.
Such a decision has come following the significant recovery experienced in the air traffic industry as well as the shortages in this industry.
According to a statement published by Lufthansa, it is planning to hire a total of 20,000 new associates in 45 occupations based in Germany, Switzerland, Austria as well as Belgium.
In addition, the airline has stressed that it is in particular looking for technicians, lawyers, IT specialists as well as pilots and cabin crew.
The figures provided previously by Aerotime revealed that Lufthansa had only 140,000 employees at the end of 2020 while this year it took some cost-cut measures and shortages causing operational difficulties and forcing Lufthansa season of this year.
Back in September, the airline announced that it would not hold more strikes until June 2023 after confirming that it reached a deal with the German pilots’ union Vereinigung Cockpit.
In addition, the pilots of Lufthansa represented by this union in Germany were eligible to secure higher salaries and bonuses after successful negotiations with the airline.
Through the agreement reached in September this year, it was emphasized that no more strikes would be taken until June 20, 2023.
Strike action taken previously by the Lufthansa group caused difficulties for a large number of passengers.
Back in July, it was reported that a total of 130,000 travellers were subject to flight cancellations by Lufthansa.
While in July, the airline also announced that it had to cancel more than 1,000 flights due to strikes.
“Lufthansa will have to call off almost the entire flight program at its hubs in Frankfurt and Munich for Wednesday. Looking ahead to the coming weekend, the start of the vacation season in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg, Lufthansa is working flat out to return flight operations to normal as quickly as possible,” the statement published by then by the airline pointed out.

The airline is attempting to find new ways in order to manage the current situation and the difficulties caused especially due to the spread of the Coronavirus and its new variants.
