Amid pandemic, more than 2,000 students arrived in Georgia to study in two months and a half, - Zurab Orjonikidze, Chancellor of Tbilisi State Medical University said. As he notes, the economy receives more than half a billion GEL as an indirect investment from students coming from abroad during the year.

According to him, there are problems that require suitable steps, and one of the main problem is the lack of dormitories.

"We have more than 15,000 foreign students, whose indirect investment in the country amounts to more than half a billion. The sector needs development and support. The problems are mainly related to the lack of dormitory in Georgia, this is a painful topic, because foreign students first of all name the problem as the fact that they do not have adequate living conditions. Several projects are currently underway in the country and the construction of dormitories will start at various locations throughout the city," said Zurab Orjonikidze, Chancellor of Tbilisi State Medical University.

Chancellor of Tbilisi State Medical University declares that based on the example of their university, the country receives 720 million as indirect investments from foreign students. According to him, Tbilisi State Medical University has foreign students from 72 countries.
