Master’s Degrees to Become Free at State Universities

მაგისტრატურა

Following the bachelor’s program, master’s degree studies at state universities will also be fully free, according to amendments to the Law on Higher Education presented to Parliament. The legislative package was introduced by Deputy Minister of Education Zviad Gabisonia during a session of the Parliament’s Sports Committee and is being considered in an accelerated manner.

The reform will apply to all 19 state universities, replacing the current grant system with full state funding. Students admitted through the quota system will no longer pay tuition fees at either the bachelor’s or master’s level.

This reform makes higher education completely free,” Gabisonia stated. “The existing grant model will be replaced by full state funding, covering both bachelor’s and master’s programs.”

Under the new system, bachelor’s degrees will last 3 years, while master’s degrees will be 1 year, with tuition fully financed by the government.
