Mamuka Mdinaradze responded to statements made by former Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, noting that he was prepared for such accusations due to the fight against corruption.
According to Mdinaradze, he will refrain from discussing the goals of the imprisoned former Prime Minister, as he does not consider it right to go on the attack against him at this stage.
"Let me refrain from talking about his goals. He is a man in prison, and I think it wouldn't be right on my part to launch an attack. I can tell you one thing with absolute sincerity: when I personally and other representatives of the government took such an uncompromising stance against corruption, we were prepared for similar allegations—or even worse—to exist and continue to surface. If you aren't prepared for this as a government official, then you can't declare war on corruption, get things done, or ensure efficient management," Mdinaradze stated.
The Vice Prime Minister also added that despite the groundless and contradictory nature of the allegations, he does not intend to enter into a discussion over attacks levied against the government as a result of its anti-corruption campaign.
Former Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili wrote on social media on August 17 that a letter was sent to him "on the instructions of Bidzina Ivanishvili." Later, in an open letter published on August 18, Garibashvili clarified that the letter in question was delivered to him by Mamuka Mdinaradze.
