After a three-year pause, Mzianeti Company resumed production of Meskhetian Tenili cheese. Due to financial problems, the Tenili cheese producing company suspended production in late 2013. Now, they are producing Tenili cheese using old Meskhetian technology together with Khareba Cooperative in Chobareti Village, Aspindza Municipality. One of the founder of Mzianeti stated to BM.ge that the main market for this product is intended to be the tourist sites in Tbilisi. Monthly production during the spring season will be 100 kg of Tenili cheese.
According to Emzar Jvaridze, an American investor showed interest towards the cheese produced using Meskhetian Technology. “We are working together with the National Food Agency to satisfy the requirements of the American party. USA requires an American label. We assume that in a month’s time we will be able to take the product to the American market”, - states Emzar Jvaridze. According to him, if the demand grows, the investor is ready to invest in the development of the enterprise.
