Mikheil Kiknadze will serve as the acting Minister of Culture after being appointed the ministry’s first deputy minister. Prior to the appointment, Kiknadze headed the Internal Audit and Monitoring Department at the Culture Ministry.
According to his 2024 asset declaration, before joining the ministry Kiknadze worked as head of the Analysis and Monitoring Department at Georgian Railway, and later served as internal monitoring manager at GR Transit Line.
The Culture Ministry told BM.GE that former first deputy minister Maka Gurgunidze also decided to resign following the minister’s departure. The ministry’s other deputy ministers will remain in their positions.
The remaining deputy ministers are Giorgi Mirtskhulava and Grigol Tsertsvadze. Former Culture Minister Tinatin Rukhadze resigned yesterday based on a personal statement, citing health reasons.
