On Monday, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said the participation of the state in the construction of large hydroelectric power plants was important during the meeting with the executive director of K-Water, the investor company of "Nenskra HPP".
Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili hoped that this meeting would be a turning point.
"It is important for us that the Nenskra project is implemented, although you know that the process is delayed, the investor faced significant problems and lost time in relation to this project. Today, the investor promises that they are ready to implement the project, although the state has its own requirements. We made it clear and during the year negotiations were held with the company. We met with the head of the company yesterday. We hope that this meeting will be a turning point for the company to quickly agree on terms and implement the project," said Levan Davitashvili.
The installed capacity of the HPP itself is 280 megawatts, and the investment volume of the project is USD 1.05 billion. Construction terms of Nenskra HPP have been violated several times and the possible date of construction completion has been moved to 2027.
