According to the candidate for the Minister of Health Ekaterine Tikaradze, the vaccine against Covid-19 will arrive in Georgia in February-March 2021.
According to her, Georgia has already transferred 16 million GEL to COXVAX within the framework of cooperation with the platform.
"In September, the Ministry signed a bilateral commitment agreement with the COVAX Platform, which is an agreement between the Government of Georgia and the Global Vaccine Alliance to assist in the procurement of a new coronavirus vaccine.
It has been agreed to call for the vaccination of 20% of the population in February-March next year, for which the country has already transferred 16 million GEL, and as a result, we will get the right to select and receive the vaccine on time, "- said Ekaterine Tikaradze.
According to Tikaradze, an inter-agency committee has been set up to coordinate and provide technical assistance in the process of introducing the vaccine, which unites government structures, donor organizations, and a representative of the Public Defender.
"The committee is reviewing all aspects of the introduction of the vaccine and will ensure the smooth implementation," Tikaradze said.
