The Ministry of Culture has dismissed Davit Doiashvili from the aposition of the head of the Vaso Abashidze Professional State Theater of Music and Drama. The Ministry of Culture of Georgia has released the corresponding statement.
The Ministry of Culture explains the reasons for the decision and states that despite repeated warnings from the ministry, the management of the Vaso Abashidze Professional State Theater of Music and Drama did not fulfill the obligations stipulated in the founding goals, and the creative process in the theater has been suspended for months.
“The Vaso Abashidze Professional State Theater of Music and Drama is a legal entity of public law established by the state.
The state professional theater, like any other LEPL, is accountable and has a duty imposed by law to fulfill the goals for which it was established by the state.
In particular, creative activities in the theater must be carried out as continuously as its financing from the state budget.
Despite repeated warnings from the Ministry of Culture of Georgia, unfortunately, the leadership of the Vaso Abashidze Professional State Theater of Musical Comedy and Drama did not fulfill this obligation envisaged by the founding goals. In the conditions of continuous funding received from the state budget, the creative process in the theater was suspended for months.
Therefore, the Ministry of Culture, as the founding agency of the LEPL Vaso Abashidze Professional State Theater of Music and Drama, made a legal decision to dismiss the person responsible for the continuous and smooth functioning of the LEPL, the theater director, Davit Doiashvili, from his position,” reads the statement.
