The Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure has announced an international tender for a project aimed at reducing traffic accidents and improving safety on the East-West highway and its surrounding areas within a 2-kilometre radius.

The project, valued at EUR 16 million, seeks to address and upgrade 27 sections identified as high-risk or “black spots” for frequent road accidents. Planned works include the installation of metal guardrails, construction of roundabouts and safety islands, arrangement of elevated pedestrian crossings and sidewalks, and the renewal of road signs and horizontal markings, among other improvements.

The tender is divided into two lots. For the first lot, participating companies must demonstrate experience in roadworks worth at least EUR 6.5 million over the past three years, while the second lot requires a minimum of EUR 3 million in relevant experience.

The initiative is financed through a grant provided by the European Union and administered by the European Investment Bank (EIB).

Interested companies have until December 3, 2025, to submit their proposals. The tender documentation does not specify the exact locations of the planned works.
