The Deputy Minister of Finance, Mirza Gelashvili, has resigned - the information was confirmed to BM.GE by Gelashvili himself.
According to Gelashvili, he decided to leave the Ministry a month ago and his decision is not connected to the possible political sanctions.
He also does not deny that his decision is related to so-called Russian Law and the political processes in the country related to it. “I do not think that The Ministry of Finance has anything to do with ongoing processes, but it certainly affects the motivation of public sector workers”, - he told BM.GE.
Mirza Gelashvili posted about his decision on Linkedin as well”
“After 10 years in public service, I am leaving the Ministry of Finance of Georgia.
I will be continuing my career as an individual consultant.
To colleagues and partners—especially those with whom I have not been able to say goodbye in person in the last few weeks—I thank you for your cooperation and wish you success!
Happy Independence Day!
Georgia’s future is in Europe!”, - he wrote.
