Moldova plans to introduce temporary restrictions on imports of grains and oilseeds from Ukraine. The Minister of Agriculture of Moldova Vladimir Bola said this during a meeting with the head of the EU delegation Janis Marejks, Ukrinform reports citing NewsMaker.

In particular, Bola announced "the ministry's intention to temporarily apply measures introduced by some EU countries regarding the import of grains and oilseeds from Ukraine."

He added that Moldova's authorities plan to compensate farmers for the excise tax on diesel fuel and subsidize the cost of plant protection products and fertilizers.

On May 2, the European Commission announced the introduction of "exceptional and temporary" safeguard measures against imports from Ukraine, which limit the supply of agricultural goods produced in Ukraine to Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia.

The restrictions will apply to four agricultural products: wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflower seeds originating in Ukraine and will remain in force until June 5, 2023 Ukrinform reports.
