My Reputation Depends on Telling the Truth – Teona Bagdavadze

თეონა ბაღდავაძე

Public relations specialist Teona Baghdavadze made a strong statement on the air of TV-program Analitics, addressing her position on recent events in Georgia and the personal-professional cost of remaining silent.

Bagdavadze emphasized that she does not separate her personal and business life, asserting:

"Either I work or I don't work, this process is the same for me. First of all, this is my human reputation and duty."

When asked whether her business reputation is more at risk when speaking out or staying silent, she unequivocally stated that telling the truth is essential to both her human and business integrity.

She referred to a specific case involving young girls being imprisoned, allegedly due to personal bias by a GITA employee:

"She simply didn't like something, she caught these children and put them in prison... This is a dictatorship."

Bagdavadze also highlighted that she has never worked with the ruling party “Georgian Dream”, which she believes gives her greater moral standing to comment on injustices.

Criticizing what she calls a lingering Soviet-era mentality in PR, she said:

"There’s a cliché that a good communications specialist is someone who hides the truth. I believe the opposite. My reputation is built on saying what needs to be said, truthfully and directly."
